Not awesome: kids with cancer - UPDATE

Updating a previous story about supportsavannah.com:

It seems that Savannah “Nana” Reed is doing better, but still needs your support for some future treatment.

There’s a really heart-warming video featured on tonight’s KVBC website, under the “top video” section at the top right. Please check it out and get over to the fundraiser tomorrow night if you can.

AIGA’s Get Out the Vote: 2008 Poster Design

The AIGA’s Design For Democracy is one of the coolest ways for designers to get involved in this year’s elections. Now, you have to be an AIGA member to participate in this particular call to action, but I highly recommend joining the AIGA for many other reasons. (search through my blog for that post).

I won’t go into my own personal opinions too much, because there is a time and a place for politics, and I’m not sure it’s here. I will say this, though: no one I know approves of the way this country is currently operated. Certainly not small business operators like myself. I’m not pleased, and I plan to vote according to which Candidate resembles my family’s needs the best. Common sense, really. It can also be much simpler: don’t vote, can’t bitch.

I’m hoping to submit a poster design later this week, since we’re gearing up for a few other contests. I’ll post a link to my design when I see it on there.

For you designers, Here’s the Link

controversial ad is apologized for…

Absolut had to apologize to some crybaby conservative columnists who called for a boycott. In my opinion, Absolut Mexico got exactly what they wanted: attention in the media and free publicity. Did they really think an alcohol ad was going to start a revolution? Personally, I give them props for thinking multi-dimensionally, and getting a big bang for their buck.

Here’s the link in USA Today.

Presidential Race Fonts

This article is a few months old, but it’s really interesting to type junkies. Goes into some details about what fonts mean, and why there are chosen.
